What is an Education Foundation?
An Education Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit tax-exempt philanthropic organization of citizens that work s to increase private support for educational activities. Fundraising for innovative teaching grants applied for by Mansfield ISD teachers and staff.
What is an Annual Drive?
The Annual Drive raises funds, during a specific time of year, for programs designated by the foundation. Funds are raised to award innovative teaching grants.
What is an Academic Recognition Banquet?
The Academic Recognition Banquet is an event that honors top graduating seniors, and in turn those seniors honor a teacher, in the district, that has made an impact on their life. Table sponsors are asked to sponsor a student and teacher at a designated cost. Funds are raised to award innovative teaching grants.
What is an Annual Golf Tournament?
The Annual Golf Tournament is held on the 3rd Monday in June of every year at Walnut Creek Country Club. There are a variety of sponsorships available. Funds are raised to award innovative teaching grants.
What is the Grant Patrol?
The “Grant Patrol” runs over a two-day span in the fall and in the spring. This is the time that the foundation awards innovative teaching grants to MISD teachers. Members of the community as well as school administrators and trustees join foundation directors in surprising teachers in their classroom with their award.
How Do I Become a Board Member?
The Foundation board interviews prospective board members in May of each year.
What is the responsibility of a board member?
A board member has the responsibility of cooperatively working with the Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees and administration toward fulfilling the long-range and short-range goals and objectives of the District. Foundation board members should have a genuine interest in the mission and goals of the foundation and be willing to use their time, influence and specialized or professional knowledge for the benefit of the students and staff who will be supported through the foundation’s work.
What is the responsibility of a volunteer?
A volunteer is responsible for aiding board members in projects that are going on during the school year. Volunteers can help with the Academic Banquet, the Golf Tournament and Reading Grants.
