Lights Fantastic was a project where photojournalism students learned about the properties of light and how that affected their photos. They also learned how to use the Bulb setting on their cameras to capture things like lightning and neon lights in photographs. They used flashlights with and without colored filters to draw with light in photos, and they used flashes with and without colored filters to make multiple exposures on one frame. Some students tried using the colored filters to change the color of a solid black or white background to match a color in their subject. The grant gave the students the opportunity to experiment with light and how it could change the mood of their photos.
