The grant funds will be used to purchase a variety of fiction and nonfiction books integrating math concepts. This project is designed to help PK-4 students at three Mansfield elementary schools to improve their skills in critical thinking, problem solving, and applying mathematical skills to everyday situations through the use of children’s literature.

The grant funds will be used to purchase 6 Teaching Torsos, 1 Skeleton Model, 1 Chart Stand, 4 Poly Bones, 9 Kate Sweeney “Blueprint for Health”. Your body inside and out will provide the option for teachers to check out the models to use in their individual lesson plans. Ultimately, the school nurse will make himself/herself available to enter each classroom and, using the models, apply his/her background in Health Sciences to work with the teachers and add to their lesson by teaching specific organ systems to their classes.

The grant funds will be used to purchase a digital quick iron press and supplies to be used to print on items to be purchased by others in the school community. The vocational program will be designed to provide students with learning disabilities or who lack the opportunities and skills to be part of a traditional vocational training program, a chance to build skills and become productive members of society.

The grant funds will be used to purchase K’nex Solar Energy System, K’nex Real Bridge Building Set, K’nex Solar Energy System, K’nex Real Bridge Building Set, K’nex Exploring Machines Set, K’nex Space Exploration, K’nex Supper Amusement Park Building set, K’nex Big Air Ball Tower and Batteries. Students will have a hands-on learning experience with simple machines, gain insights into the science of bridges and amusement rides, learn about alternative energy resources and have an increased awareness of vehicles used to explore space.

The grant funds will be used to purchase materials and equipment to adapt a regular swing to be mechanically propelled by switch access. The use of switches to activate items such as cooking devices, toys, computers, and electronic devices allows students with physical disabilities more independence and control over their environment.

The visual computer simulation of a football franchise lets students handle promotion, develop ticket pricing strategies, evaluate stadiums and city locations, control stadium operations and staffing, find sponsors and licensing deals.

The grant funds will be used to provide a more holistic education than a traditional curriculum. The project will integrate the details with the big picture of their own environment. The workstations and trail will provide the students a unique resource to study ecology, life cycles, energy cycles, plant diversity, water quality, insect diversity, weather patterns and various art concepts.
Vocabulary in Motion: Thinking Inside the Bus Transportation $10,000

The grant funds will be used to purchase Eighty sets of school bus slipcovers prepared especially for this program. Each slipcover will have a trio of vocabulary words and definitions screen-printed on the area immediately in front of seated bus riders.

The grant funds will be used to provide students with a variety of durable instruments, guaranteed to last for many year, to use in the classroom to accompany songs and several easy to read maps to visually locate and discuss each country, state or region the music comes from.
