Steem: It’s not Just Fuel for Engines

All High Schools receive $3,750 for Steem: It’s not Just Fuel for Engines. Teacher Heather Hogue received a grant for $3,750 from the MISD Education Foundation. Funds from this grant are used to create a writing Symposium. This will bring in visiting writers and professors to come and speak to MISD students on various facets of writing including literary analysis, creative writing, college essay writing, procedural writing, and professional/report writing.

Photos below are from the North Texas Teen Book Festival on March 7th funded by the MISD Education Foundation Schulz Wealth grant! We had 45 students from Timberview, Lake Ridge, Mansfield, and Legacy High Schools attend the event which featured over fifty popular, young-adult authors participating in panel discussions on writing, giving book talks, and taking part in book signings. Special thanks to my additional chaperones: George Olsen of LRHS and Jennifer Rike, librarian at THS!
