The Vernon Newsom Memorial Grant
The MISD Education Foundation has established the Vernon Newsom Memorial Grant. Mr. Newsom established the Education Foundation in 1998, to further support the teachers and students of MISD with innovative teaching grants. Donations can be received at 609 E. The Mansfield ISD will shut down all district operations from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2009 in honor of Vernon Newsom who died last week in a motorcycle accident.
All District services, offices, and administrative operations will be closed for a four-hour window to allow staff who wish to attend funeral services for Mr. Newsom.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a scholarship fund for Mr. Newsom’s granddaughters. For those that knew Mr. Newsom, his granddaughters were the light of his life and this is a great tribute to his love for them.
Frost Bank contributions - Make the check out to Frost Bank. On the memo line put “for Vernon Newsom Scholarship Fund” and Acct #822053438. You can also put “For Deposit Only” and the same account number on the back of the check.
